California Supreme Court lets stand rulings invalidating Huntington Beach voter ID measure

The California Supreme Court left intact rulings that state election law preempts local charter provisions regulating access to the polls.

The California Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to review two Huntington Beach voter identification cases, leaving in place 4th District Court of Appeal rulings that invalidated a 2024 city charter provision authorizing voter identification requirements in municipal elections.
