Judge weighs Girardi's bail motion tied to appellate claims
Judge Josephine Staton will soon decide whether Tom Girardi's appellate arguments, including Fourth Amendment and competency claims, warrant temporary release from custody after his conviction for stealing millions from clients.





A judge in Los Angeles will decide "in the next week or so" whether Tom Girardi raised strong enough appellate arguments to justify his temporary release from federal custody.
In July, Federal Public Defender Samuel O. Cross, who represents the 86-year-old disbarred lawyer, filed a bail motion with arguments he categorized at Thursday's hearing as "complex" and "at least arguable" for the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to consider.
