Judge questions DOJ move to drop deputy's assault case

A federal judge questions the government's attempt to dismiss a sheriff's deputy's misdemeanor assault case, citing insufficient evidence, despite a jury's conviction based on bodycam footage.

A federal judge on Monday questioned whether he had the authority to grant the government's "Hail Mary" move to drop a case against a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff who was already sentenced to four months in prison on a reduced charge of misdemeanor assault.
