The Anaheim City Council on Tuesday approved $250,000 for the city's immigrant assistance program. The 5-2 vote expands Orange County's largest municipal initiative helping residents affected by federal immigration enforcement.

Mayor Ashleigh Aitken, who introduced the measure, underscored the urgency of funding services for families facing detention and the ongoing fear of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity.
