Early in May 2025, it was reported that President Donald Trump was preparing a presidential commission on college athletics. Multiple sources told Yahoo! Sports, the first outlet to break the news, that the commission aims to reset the faulty governance system. Word on the street is the commission will likely be led by former LSU and Alabama football coach Nick Saban and Texas billionaire businessman and Texas Tech Board of Regents Chair Cody Campbell.
