Consumer Watchdog sues over FAIR Plan surcharges
Consumer Watchdog sues California's Insurance Department, alleging illegal surcharges on FAIR Plan policyholders to cover $500 million in losses from Palisades and Eaton wildfires, violating state insurance laws.
The Consumer Watchdog advocacy group sued the California Department of Insurance on Monday to make it stop insurers from imposing millions of dollars in surcharges on California FAIR Plan policyholders in the wake of the Palisades and Eaton wildfires.
