LA city attorney sues over post-fire 'rent gouging'

LA City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto sued nine parties for alleged rent gouging after the Eaton and Palisades fires, exploiting a housing shortage with illegal short-term rental price hikes.

The Los Angeles City Attorney's office announced Thursday that it sued nine people and entities, claiming they've been engaging in rental price gouging since April 2022, and expanded their violations after the Eaton and Palisades fires.
