Shareholders claim Edison misled on wildfire risks

Edison shareholders sue, alleging neglected equipment and misleading claims led to the Eaton Fire, as the utility faces over 130 lawsuits for the deadly January blaze in Eaton Canyon.

Investors in Southern California Edison's parent company allege that the utility failed to inspect and maintain its equipment in Eaton Canyon, and then issued materially false statements about what happened after the area went up in flames.

The case appears to be the first shareholder derivative action stemming from the deadly Eaton Fire to be filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. A putative federal class action was filed in California's Central District in February....
