San Francisco judge may sanction Trump administration over rehiring order defiance
A union-backed legal team has asked Senior U.S. District Judge William Alsup to hold the federal government in contempt if six federal agencies do not comply with his order to reinstate 16,000 terminated employees. Meanwhile, a divided 9th Circuit rejected a second attempt by the U.S. Department of Justice to stay the preliminary injunction.





Attorneys for unions suing the U.S. Office Personnel Management filed a motion Wednesday asking a San Francisco judge to compel compliance with his order that six federal government agencies rehire probationary employees who were fired last month.
If not, Altshuler Berzon LLP attorney Danielle E. Leonard asked Senior U.S. District Judge William Alsup, an appointee of President Bill Clinton, to hold the federal agencies in contempt.
