ExxonMobil faces dual legal battles claiming plastics deception

California's lawsuit accusing ExxonMobil of misleading the public on recycling heads to state court, while environmental groups' similar claims remain in federal. The lawsuits claim corporate deception fueled the plastics crisis, but Exxon says it was following the governments' lead in promoting plastic recycling.

The State of California's lawsuit accusing ExxonMobil Corp. of creating the plastics pollution crisis by misleading the public "for decades" about the efficacy of recycling efforts is headed back to state court after a federal judge in San Francisco remanded the case.
