Medical privacy case against Meta to proceed, judge says
Senior U.S. District Judge William H. Orrick denied Meta’s motion to dismiss claims of extraterritoriality and wiretap act, California Invasion of Privacy Act, unjust enrichment and larceny claims.
A federal judge in San Francisco allowed large portions of a class action to proceed on plaintiffs' claims that their medical privacy was violated by Meta's Pixel tracking.
In his order adopted Wednesday, Senior U.S. District Judge William H. Orrick denied Meta's motion to dismiss the extraterritoriality claim, finding that plaintiffs plausibly argued that sufficient conduct occurred in California.
