Roblox fights claims it predatorily profits from kid gamers
At a hearing for Roblox’s motion to dismiss on Wednesday in San Francisco, U.S. District Judge William H. Orrick focused on the first major hurdle for the plaintiffs: Whether Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act protects the video game developer.
Roblox Corp. is fighting allegations it is engaging in predatory practices to profit from its user base of children. According to the class action complaint, Roblox is "one of the largest and fastest growing gaming platforms in the world," with at least 70% of its users under the age of 18 and more than half under the age of 13.
