Family claims $20M from Anaheim over death of man
Dale K. Galipo of Woodland Hills and attorney Vicki I. Sarmiento of Alhambra filed the claim on behalf of family members of Brandon Lopez, seeking damages from the city, four police officers, and police chief in connection with the Sept. 28 death.
The family of a man who was fatally shot by Anaheim police after a three-hour standoff after a vehicular pursuit has filed a claim against the city asking for damages in excess of $20 million.
"It's just another unnecessary police shooting case where they shoot an unarmed person, kill him and try to justify deadly force after the fact," the plaintiffs' attorney, Dale K. Galipo of Woodland Hills said in an interview Wednesday.
