On Oct. 5, the court struck down Assembly Bill 32, California’s ban on private prisons and detention facilities.






On Oct. 5, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling on Assembly Bill 32, California's ban on private prisons and detention facilities. The court struck down AB 32 as it pertains to private civil detention facilities used by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain immigrants. The GEO Group v. Newsom, 2021 DJDAR 10510.
