Officials circumspect about resuming civil trials in LA
“If we are fortunate and things fall into place just right, then hopefully CCP Section 36 preference jury trials will begin in August and non-preference civil jury trials, we’re looking at September to October,” said Presiding Judge Kevin C. Brazile. “Let me just add this caveat: This could very easily slip into 2021. I’m being optimistic. Our goal is start up civil jury trials in August.”
Los Angeles County Superior Court leaders reiterated their goal is to start some civil jury trials this fall in a best-case scenario, but they could "easily slip" into next year, they said during a Zoom conference Friday sponsored by the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
