State settles pay-to-delay antitrust claim with pharmaceutical companies

Three drugmakers reached a nearly $70 million settlement with California Monday over anticompetitive practices in which they paid to delay the release of more affordable generic drugs.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Three drugmakers reached a nearly $70 million settlement with California Monday over anticompetitive practices in which they paid to delay the release of more affordable generic drugs.

State Attorney General Xavier Becerra said the settlement was the largest by any state for "pay-for-delay" allegations against the companies, and the only one to have secured injunctions prohibiting similar misconduct in the future. ...
