New grand jury law on the horizon

A new law banning grand juries in cases where a police officer kills a citizen goes into effect soon. While the L.A. DA's office will not have to change its policy, many DA offices across the state will have to do so. By Floyd Feeney

2014 was not a great year for the grand jury. And since has been no better. First,
there was Ferguson in the St. Louis suburbs. In August, a grand jury refused to indict
the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown, an 18-year-old African-American.
Weeks of demonstrations followed. Many peaceful, but others not.
