Pursuant to Assembly Bill 10, the California minimum wage will increase from $8 to $9 per hour, effective July 1, 2014, and increase again to $10 per hour, effective Jan. 1, 2016. It's expected that those municipalities with "living wage" ordinances will likewise boost their rates, and they may not wait for July 1 to do so.
