A key provision in the patent reform bill may be eliminated, as the U.S. House of Representatives is poised to remove language that would guarantee that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office could keep its own funds.
Removal of the provision, which would prevent the diversion of patent application fees to general government coffers, has sparked strong opposition from several industry groups.
