Gov. Jerry Brown announced the selection of a former deputy assistant attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice and an up and coming legal star in Washington, D.C., to the state Supreme Court on Monday.
If the nomination of Leondra R. Kruger is approved, she would fill the last remaining vacancy on the court and giving it its first African-American justice in nine years.
