Allen Matkins has hired Scott M. Dommes as a partner in the firm's Los Angeles office where he will be part of Allen Matkin's practicing in the firm's tax and joint ventures groups. Dommes is returning to Allen Matkins after a yearlong sting as in-house tax counsel at the Chevron Corporation. He focuses his practice on structuring, negotiating and documenting complex joint ventures and business transactions for equity investors, financial institutions, developers and others.

Paetkau, who joins from Hartnett Smith & Associates, will work in the Procopio's working in the firm’s Labor & Employment practice group. He has counseled employers in labor and employment law matters for more than twenty five years. Paetkau has represented clients in state and federal litigation, including defending claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, defamation, and unfair competition. Paetkau also has experience representing employers regarding restrictive covenants and trade secrets, employee mobility issues, the defense of collective and class actions, and traditional labor-management relations matters as well as ethics and corporate compliance issues.

Brandon D. Fox joined Jenner & Block LLP as partner in Los Angeles.

Jenner & Block LLP has hired Brandon D. Fox as a partner in the firm's investigations, compliance and defense practice in Los Angeles. Fox joins from the US Attorney’s Offices in Los Angeles, where he was the chief of the public corruption and civil rights section. There he led an historic investigation of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which included the prosecutions of elected Sheriff Leroy Baca and 20 other enforcement officers for obstruction of justice, corruption and civil rights violations.

Peter P. Chen joined Covington & Burling LLP as partner.

At the Patent Trial and Appeal Board's Silicon Valley Regional Office, he presided on nearly 200 inter partes review and covered business method patent proceedings. Prior to his service at PTAB, Chen was a first-chair intellectual property litigator and handled over 75 patent infringement cases. He also served as general counsel and intellectual property counsel at technology companies in Silicon Valley and is a registered patent attorney.

Glen A. Rothstein has opened a new boutique law office, Rothstein Law APC in Los Angeles. Rothstein, a former partner of Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger LLP, litigates matters relating to sports, entertainment, interactive gaming, and mobile app industries. His past clients have included Lionsgate, Grindstone Entertainment Group, Crytek GmbH and AltaMed Health Services Corp., NFL player Warren Sapp, and actress Sasha Grey. Rothstein is also the CEO and founder of Where Were You When...? LLC, a brand and licensing sports and lifestyle apparel company.

Mathew D. Taggart joined Thomas Employment Law Advocates, APC as senior counsel in West Hollywood.
