Settlement on juvenile detainee conditions mandates basic hygiene and health items

A 9th U.S. Circuit Ciourt of Appeals panel ordered the Trump administration to provide hygiene basic under the terms of a settlement.

In June, a Department of Justice attorney drew national media attention -- and some opprobrium -- for arguing to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that the government needn't provide toothbrushes, blankets, or soap to detained immigrant minors in order to meet settlement terms mandating "safe and sanitary" conditions be provided to such juveniles.
